About the Agent

Gail Hochman developed her career by representing what she loves most to read: works of literary fiction, idea-driven non-fiction, literary memoir and children’s books. Her authors’ works have become bestselling novels, successful films and television series, and international publishing phenomena, and have earned their authors prizes ranging from the Pulitzer Prize, National Book Award, and PEN/Faulkner Award to the Guggenheim Fellowship, Lambda Literary Award, and the Caldecott and Newbery Medals. Gail has taught a class in the role of the literary agent at NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies, and she is active in numerous charities and foundations which support the needs of women and children in New York City and the writing community. Throughout her tenure as President of the Association of Authors’ Representatives, she has helped the organization to develop more effective educational programs for its member agents and to serve as an advocate for authors’ rights.
