About the Agent
Katia Herman graduated from NYU, where she created her own major in painting and writing. She is a busy woman, navigating life with two sons and two stepsons, ages 13, 10, 11, and 4, in a household of five males. Middle grade books are a passion for Katia, not only as a reader but as a genre she has shared with her own children and feels deeply connected to. Her own literary journey began at age eight with her self-written and illustrated book, "You Get Some Good and You Get Some Bad." Throughout high school at Fieldston in NYC, she found solace in poetry and the characters of literature, from Anna Karenina to Holden Caulfield. As she grew, Katia was drawn to the complex voice of Nabokov and found support in the works of Sharon Olds, Adrienne Rich, and T.S. Eliot during her teenage and young adult years. These formative experiences have naturally led her to represent YA and middle grade books, genres she wholeheartedly loves. Beyond her work as an agent, Katia runs a high-end flower design business and teaches workout classes. She is also Ronnie Herman's much-loved younger daughter.
