About the Agent
With over twenty years in the publishing industry, Laura Wood brings a broad perspective to literary representation, having worked in-house at publishers large and small, as well as a buyer. She was previously Manager of Merchandising for Barnes&Noble.com, where her role evolved from Science & Nature Editor to buying across the categories of Science & Nature, Reference, Home & Garden, and Science Fiction & Fantasy. Laura's publishing experience spans a range of houses, from the Harmony Books imprint of Crown to Duke University Press and Columbia University Press. She also served as Associate Publisher of Council Oak Books, an independent publisher. Laura holds a Master’s Degree in Publishing Studies from New York University, where her thesis explored the market for serious trade nonfiction. Earlier in her career, she was an assistant at Condé Nast publications Vogue and Glamour. Before entering publishing, Laura studied at the Laban Centre for Movement and Dance in London.
