About the Agent

Trena Keating brings a wealth of publishing experience to her work as an agent. Trena, who grew up in the west and has lived in NYC for decades, began her career at Stanford University Press, and went on to roles as a Senior Editor at HarperCollins, Associate Publisher at Plume, and as Editor-in-Chief of Dutton before she decided to become an agent in order to work more closely with writers she admired. In 2012, she co-founded Union Literary, building a list of both fiction and nonfiction authors, including New York Times #1 bestsellers, national bestsellers, award winners, national bookclub picks, and authors with critical acclaim. Her clients appear on national television, are featured in The New York Times, host podcasts, and are covered by major national and regional newspapers. Trena takes equal pleasure in working with masters of the craft and promising new talent, and is always closely involved with both the work of her writers on the page and in their long-term career development. She's most interested in books that draw readers into new perspectives and settings. She loves contemporary fiction with strong narratives, innovative historical fiction, memoirs with compelling voices, groundbreaking expert-based nonfiction, and all accounts that broaden the lens on human experience.
